Sometimes we venture outside our own breeding program to acquire someone special and that occured with Dezi who came to MontRose at six months of age. She fits in well here with her high drive and boundless energy and just incredible good looks. She made her ASCA debut on April 27, 2003 and was Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex for 4 points under Judge Ronald Lambert and the following day Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite for 5 points under Judge Phyllis Lambert. Dezi finished her AKC championship on March 26, 2004 with a 4 point major going Best of Opposite over a Specials bitch and at an earlier show having gone Best of Breed over a Specials dog.
Dezi went to live with a friend that I use to work with to mend a heart from the loss of a husband. Ten months later, the day before Thanksgiving, the smoke detectors went off in the house in Candor, New York where she lived and her owner’s grandson opened the door and she exited and did not return. There was a huge effort by many people to locate her but tragically I found her shot by a hunter only about 3,600 feet from where she disappeared. I brought her home to MontRose for burial.
